Tour of Suffolk's energy from waste facility.

The Suffolk energy-from-waste facility processes 295,000 tonnes of domestic and commercial waste each year – generating enough electricity to power 50,000 homes. Our objective is to provide an alternative to waste being sent to landfill and reduce the associated cost to Suffolk tax-payers, turning non-recyclable waste into energy.

The visit is expected to take approximately 2 hours; it will include a short presentation, a tour of the facility and a chance to visit our visitors centre. Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure a prompt start to the tour.

Please be aware that the tour involves a 1.5km walk up to the 23-metre level, including over 300 stairs and several mesh walkways. The tour is not suitable for people with mobility issues or vertigo.
