A practical construction seminar, led by experienced barristers Harriet Butterfield and Adam Beaumont.

The session will be split into two sections, each led by an experienced barrister. Harriet Butterfield, a consultant at Blacks and practising barrister, will begin with ‘Avoiding disputes in construction: It’s all in the set up’, sharing practical steps you can take from the outset to help stop common problems from developing into disputes.

Adam Beaumont, barrister at Kings Chambers, will then lead ‘Adjudication and enforcement: Problems, pitfalls, and progress’, looking at what happens when a dispute can’t be avoided. This session will take you through the adjudication process, what to expect, and how to deal with some of the common issues that can arise along the way.

The seminar is aimed at non-legal professionals who regularly work with construction contracts. You’ll leave with practical tips you can use in your day-to-day work to help prevent disputes. You’ll also gain a clearer understanding of adjudication and how it can help resolve construction disputes when avoiding them isn’t possible.
