Agile Yorkshire is a monthly gathering of IT professionals from in and around Yorkshire.

Technology never stands still—and neither should we.

At Agile Yorkshire, we bring together software engineers, delivery professionals, product leaders, Agile practitioners and technology enthusiasts to learn from one another, challenge ideas and build meaningful connections. Our monthly meetups combine practical talks from experienced speakers with open conversations and networking, creating a community where learning doesn't happen in isolation.

Whether you're starting your Agile journey or leading organisational change, you'll leave with fresh ideas, practical insights and new connections to take back to your team.

Overview

As the evenings draw in, join us for our November Agile Yorkshire meetup and an evening of shared learning, practical insight and fresh thinking.

Agile Yorkshire is a community of practice focused on learning from one another, developing professionally and exploring ideas that are shaping the way we work. This month, we’re looking at AI from two perspectives: what it really means for software developers, and how we plan in a world of accelerating technological change.

Our Line-Up

1) James Ridgway (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesmridgway/) — 30 Minutes

Why AI Isn't Taking My Job

James explores what AI is really changing for software developers — and what still depends on human judgement, experience and context. Looking at how development has evolved over the last three decades, he considers where tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT genuinely add value, and why using AI well may become a key professional advantage.

About James (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jamesmridgway/)

James Ridgway is Co-Founder and CTO of The Curve, with extensive experience in technology leadership, architecture, scaling teams and helping organisations solve complex technology and business challenges.

2) David Shapton (https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidshapton/)— 60 Minutes

How To Plan Absolutely Anything in the Era of AI and Exponential Change

David explores why exponential technological change is so difficult to understand and what this means for planning, strategy and decision-making. He’ll look at how AI challenges traditional assumptions about the future and what individuals and organisations may need to do differently to keep pace.

About David (https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidshapton/)

David Shapton is a technology leader, writer and adviser with more than 30 years’ experience across media and technology. He now focuses on AI, exponential change and helping organisations better understand how emerging technology is reshaping the world around us.
