Babes & Blades is an open-to-all romantasy book club. This month, we're switching things up with our sci-fi special: the popularly voted-for Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a long-time fantasy/sci-fi reader or brand new to the genre.

We'll be meeting at Hyde Park Book Club, in The Snug, for a relaxed and friendly morning of book chat and good company. Drinks and food will be available to purchase from the venue.

Attendees will need to source their own copy of the book ahead of time. Our current read is: Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Expect a high-stakes read with secrets, slow-burn tension, political intrigue and power struggles. We'll be chatting about characters, tropes, favourite moments and all the things that made us scream, swoon or question our life choices.

Accessibility

Hyde Park Book Club aims to be accessible to all. If you have any access needs or questions about the venue, please contact them directly in advance at contact@hydeparkbookclub.co.uk.

The Snug has step-free access via a wheelchair ramp, and an accessible toilet is available on the ground floor.

The front entrance has step-free access to the main bar and café.

You're welcome to bring medication, food, drink, or medical equipment. Refrigeration can be arranged if requested in advance. Assistance dogs are welcome, and water bowls are available for them.

Getting there

Taxis can drop off on Headingley Lane. The nearest bus stops are Hyde Park Corner and North Hill Road, around a 3-minute walk away. Burley Park Station is approximately a 25–30 minute walk, while Leeds Station is around a 10–15 minute taxi ride away. There is limited on-site parking, with additional on-street parking available nearby on Grosvenor Road.
