The home town launch of the local Leeds large ensemble, Ancient Infinity Orchestra, playing the music from their latest album: ‘It’s Always About Liberation’, and material from their previous Gondwana Records releases.

Ancient Infinity Orchestra return with their third album, It’s Always About Liberation - a darker, more searching companion to 2025’s It’s Always About Love.

Led by double bassist and composer Ozzy Moysey, the Leeds collective create a richly textured sound where strings, reeds, harp, piano and percussion collide with improvisation, groove and collective energy. Inspired by words spoken by Moor Mother at We Out Here Festival, the album explores struggle, perseverance and the desire for freedom, connection and joy.

There are moments of grief and reflection, but also huge bursts of communal energy. “Akshay” combines a playful mbira loop with bouncing percussion in tribute to a young life lost too soon, while “Celebrating the Beautiful Lineage of Sound & Hypnotic States” builds from hypnotic rhythms into an explosive, eight-minute ensemble workout. Elsewhere, “Illuminations” shifts between hazy, laid-back passages and freer, more expansive playing.

Ancient Infinity Orchestra is a gathering of voices, traditions, and energies converging into something timeless. Their music is a journey inward and outward, always reaching toward the universal.
