Dreaming of crafting your own unique sterling silver jewellery? Join local designer-maker Sophie Newbound for an inspiring 5-week Jewellery Making journey!

Sophie will expertly guide you through essential silversmithing techniques: piercing & annealing, soldering, texturing & filing, and polishing & finishing. During the first three weeks, you will master core skills by crafting your own ring. In the latter sessions, you will create your signature piece: choose from stacking rings, stud earrings, or a small pendant!

If you have some experience, you can explore advanced texturing, soldering, and finishing techniques, as well as granulation – adding delicate silver details.

Future courses will also cover more intricate wirework and bezel setting for cabochon stones.

Meet Your Tutor

Sophie has 15 years jewellery making experience ranging from beading, metalwork and more recently wax carving. Her passion was ignited after attending silversmithing classes while living in London, and she has continued to develop her skills in her own workshop in north Leeds. A regular at craft markets, she recently exhibited her first collection at the MADE gallery at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Sophie encourages people to explore their creativity, teaching fundamental techniques such as soldering, piercing and filing, allowing participants to pursue their own designs at a pace that works for them.

ABILITY: Beginners / Advanced Beginners.

WHAT’S INCLUDED: All metals and materials provided for initial projects.

(Own designs may require additional metal which can be purchased direct from the tutor)

CANCELLATION POLICY

All tickets are non -refundable.

We are able to provide credit / transfer onto another course or workshop if there is two or more weeks’ notice.

Within a two-week period, under no circumstances can we transfer you onto another event. We have incurred material costs & committed numbers to the tutor.
