OSCURA First Light presents Jody Wisternoff, Because Of Art & Yeadon

Saturday 30 January 2027 · Archive, Leeds · 4pm till 12:30am

First Light is the uplifting, melodic side of OSCURA. It starts in daylight and runs long into the night.

Jody Wisternoff made the DMC World DJ Championship final at 13. He came up through Bristol's rave scene, playing Fantazia and Universe and holding a residency at Lakota. With Nick Warren he formed Way Out West, who had a UK dance number one with "Mindcircus". He co-curates Anjunadeep's annual compilations, and he's the one who signed Lane 8. His latest album, Welcome To My World, reached the Beatport top 5 in Breaks, Electronica and Organic House. His benchmark for a record: "It needs to give you goose pimples."

Because Of Art is London's Alex Grover. He grew up collecting records at Phonica and Rough Trade and raving at fabric and Ministry of Sound, then took the project from local DJ to global touring artist. He's released on Anjunadeep, including his debut album, and on Sasha's Last Night On Earth. Expect lush, euphoric melodic house with breaks running through it.

Yeadon is a Manchester-based producer raised on late-90s trance in the North of England. He's released on Global Underground and Stress Records, runs his own label 10 Steps North, and has had support from Cristoph and Hernán Cattaneo. Emotive, driving progressive house.

Lainey and OSCURA resident SOBAH open the room.
