About this Event
Step away from the rush and spend time by the canal. Join Leeds eco-poet Kate Simpson in exploring the city's waterway, looking closer at the nature and stories that live in and around it. Along the way there will be chances to start and write your own poems with prompts and support from Kate.
A relaxed and welcoming session for anyone interested in creativity, nature and local places - no previous writing experience necessary!
A project funded by Leeds Seasons of Culture and the Poetry School.
This is a creative canal walk from Leeds City Centre towards Kirkstall
This project is part of the Seasons of Culture Programme funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council through the Leeds Cultural Investment Programme.
· Please consider using public transport to arrive at Office Lock
· Please bring something to write on and with – a paper and pen or a notes app on a phone!
· Our walk will start at 10:30am
· Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for the weather

Please book one time slot per person. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked slot. These sessions are designed for adults and for children from seven years old upwards as an introduction to walking and are easy grade along our amazing towpaths. Learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife which is around every turn on our waterways .
Parents and Guardians are required to accompany their children on this walk.
Walk ins will not be accepted. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket via Eventbrite or please get in touch with us to allow another person(s) a chance to take part. Social distancing measures will be in place and all equipment will be cleaned in between sessions.
