About This Event

A new film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility will be shown at the Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds on 7 October 2026. The story follows Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they navigate love and hardship after losing their family home. The film is shot across historic houses in Dorset, Knebworth, and Devon.

When Mr Dashwood dies, his widow and three daughters are left with next to nothing, forced out of their Sussex home and into a modest cottage. Whilst Elinor is steady and sensible Elinor, her younger sister Marianne is all impulsive heart and no restraint. Between them they fall for two very different men: the quietly honourable Edward Ferrars, and the dashing, unreliable John Willoughby. Boasting a brilliant cast and shot across genuine historic houses in Dorset, Knebworth, and Devon, this wonderfully realised new adaptation leans fully into the stiff-collared formality of the period while keeping Austen’s wit intact.
