An in-person edit-a-thon that aims to improve the coverage of Byzantine women & genderqueer saints on Wikipedia. No prior experience needed.

This in-person training event is aimed at anyone who wants to learn how to edit Wikipedia and has an interest in any, or all, of the following: women’s history, LGBTQ+ history, Byzantine or Medieval history, and the Lives of saints. Researchers of all levels of experience are welcome, from students to professors, and professionals to enthusiasts.

Participants will learn Wikipedia basics and make their first edits. The session is open to all and no prior Wiki experience is required. We hope to see you there!

We will support you by showing you how to set up a Wikipedia account and make edits, as well as create new articles and upload images. Our theme for the day is inspired by Byzantine women and genderqueer saints, and we hope you will upload images, add references and identify gaps around that theme.

If you do not have a specific article or saint that you would like to work on, do not worry as suggested articles, topics and source materials will be provided. At the same time, if you have a woman or genderqueer saint in mind, who is not Byzantine or Christian, you are still very much encouraged to attend.

Please bring a laptop and power cable on the day. If you do not have a laptop, you can use a tablet or smart phone. We will send supporting information and resources prior to the event.
