Holiday woodland play and bushcraft fun!

Set up camp for a day of wildness in the woods at TCV Skelton Grange...

Activities will vary from session to session depending on the season and the group - but past Wild Play days have included:

Wide games, shelter building, fire lighting, campfire cooking, field games, hammock hanging, wild food walks, woodwork crafts, string making, bows and arrows, stalking and tracking, pyro-carving and charcoal making.

The cost per child is £33.60 (plus booking fee) and includes a day of outdoor games and bushcraft activities led by experienced leaders.

Sessions run from 10am - 4pm.

Please bring a packed lunch for the day.

Please be aware that there is currently a security cabin and gate about halfway along Skelton Grange Road. This is for the construction site next door to the Environment Centre.

If you travel by car they will probably note the vehicle registration, ask for the driver’s name and where you are going (tell them TCV). It is simply to keep track of traffic entering and leaving. If you are walking down you can go straight past. Essentially, don’t be worried when you see it, you are going to the right place!

"The kids really enjoy their days - it is great for them to have a whole day outdoors learning new skills."

"It is a wonderful opportunity to try new activities in a supportive and stimulating environment. 'J' found the adults inspiring, and can't wait to come back!"

If you have any questions, compliments or complaints, contact the Skelton Grange Team on 0113 2430815 or skelton@tcv.org.uk.

If the date you want to book onto is 'SOLD OUT' then please contact us - if there are enough requests we will endeavour to arrange another session during the same holiday period.

All proceeds support the charitable work of The Conservation Volunteers at Skelton Grange Environment Centre.

FAQs

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Your child must be between the ages of 8-12 years due to legal requirements regarding supervision.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We have plenty of free parking and disabled parking available at the front of the centre.

Should my child bring their phone?

Wild play days are a chance to get away from screens for a day and enjoy being together outside without distractions. We would advise children not to bring a phone, but if they do we ask them to keep it in their bag during the day.

My child has additional needs - can they still come?

We will do everything that we can to support your child to be able to take part in our events although this will depend on what support needs your child has. We ask that you fully fill in the booking form so that we know how best to support your child and we may get in touch with you to find out more information.

If you have any concerns, please contact our disability champion Chris Ensor (0113 2430815, c.ensor@tcv.org.uk) to discuss how we can best support your child.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. But please be ready to tell us who will be collecting your child at the end of the day.

When is the collection time?

4 pm.
