Thinking about trying Martial Arts but not sure where to start? This 6-week women’s course at IMA Leeds is designed to give you a friendly, welcoming introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in an environment created for women, coached by women.

The course begins on Saturday 12th September and runs every Saturday from 11:00am–12:00pm for six weeks.

It’s aimed primarily at complete beginners, so no previous experience or specialist equipment is required. Experienced practitioners are also very welcome, particularly if you’re looking to train alongside and meet more women in the Jiu Jitsu community.

What is No-Gi Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on controlling, escaping and submitting an opponent using technique rather than striking.

Across the six weeks, you’ll learn the fundamentals while improving your fitness, learning practical skills and meeting a new group of people.

The course will be coached by Amy Derwanz, a highly experienced, friendly and approachable coach who will guide you through everything step-by-step.
