What does it take to build a successful career in television and animation – and how is the industry changing? Join us at De Montfort University for an evening with Tony Reed, DMU alumnus and Production Creative Director, Animation at BBC Studios Kids & Family, as he shares insights from his career in television production and the changing world of broadcasting and streaming.
Tony graduated from DMU in 1993 with a combined honours degree in Media and Fine Art and began his career in children's television production shortly afterwards. Since then, he has worked across both the BBC's public service and commercial sides, as well as with broadcasters and platforms including Sky, Disney, Nickelodeon and Netflix.
He currently leads animation teams at BBC Studios Kids & Family and has extensive experience as a producer, writer, director, executive producer and senior leader. His work spans animation and live action, with experience of working with global partners, broadcasters and streamers on co-production, co-commissioning and funding opportunities. His work has received multiple BAFTA and RTS Awards.

The industry today and tomorrow – how developments in technology are influencing the way content is created, produced and consumed.
Building a career in a competitive industry – Tony's experiences, lessons learned and advice for students and graduates looking to establish themselves in television and media.
There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask Tony questions about working in television, animation and the wider creative industries.
