Route includes some soft, unsurfaced paths which may be muddy after rain. Please wear appropriate footwear. We regret this is not an accessible route.

Join us for a late autumn walk through some of Leicester's pleasant suburban and green spaces. We follow a leafy footpath through Gilroes Cemetery and on to Bradgate Heights residential estate (not to be confused with Bradgate Park!) and the grounds of Glenfield Hospital, before returning to the start. This walk includes some gentle uphill sections and is slightly longer than usual, ideal for those who like to stretch their legs.

Travel

Bus travel is recommended to get to this walk. Groby Road is served by buses, with bus stops close to Heathley Park Drive. If driving, please observe parking restrictions on residential streets and park with consideration for residents. The pub car park is for patrons only. There is a small car park within Gilroes Cemetery, a 10-minute walk away.

This short walk is free to attend, but numbers are limited so please book via Eventbrite to secure your place or phone 0116 454 2860 when booking has opened.

Please note our phone line is answered during office hours only (Monday to Friday, 9am-5.30pm), not at weekends or bank holidays.

If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel via Eventbrite or contact us during office hours so we can allow others the opportunity to attend.

New Walkers

If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk online or by phone. You will receive an email in the days before the walk with information about completing the form. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).

Dress for the weather

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:

Comfortable sturdy footwear

Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain

On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket

Please bring a bottle of water with you.

Group size

We are keeping our group sizes manageable so that all our walkers feel comfortable attending the walk.
