Hidden Histories: Leicester’s Medieval Mementoes is set for Saturday 6 September 2026 at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery. The event, guided by historian Jim Butler, will lead participants on a tour through select streets and buildings that offer glimpses into the town's medieval heritage. As you walk through modern-day Leicester, you'll learn to identify the clues left behind from the Middle Ages, gaining insight into how history has shaped the city we see today. This engaging exploration promises to uncover hidden stories of yesteryear, enriching your understanding of Leicester’s rich and complex past.

With tour guide Jim Butler

An exploration of some of the streets, buildings and places that offer insights into Leicester’s fascinating medieval past. Highlighting the town’s surviving buildings from the Middle Ages, historian Jim Butler will encourage participants to spot the clues left by the medieval town that have survived through the centuries into today’s modern cityscape.
