More Than Watching: Jumping into Children’s Play

More Than Watching: Jumping into Children’s Play is a face‑to‑face training session designed for wraparound and out‑of‑school care staff, focusing on the vital role adults play in supporting, enriching and sustaining children’s play. The session aims to move practice beyond supervision, helping staff understand how their presence, interactions and enjoyment can significantly enhance children’s experiences, wellbeing and sense of belonging. Through practical activities, reflection and hands‑on play, staff are encouraged to rediscover the joy of playing alongside children, build confidence in knowing when and how to join in, and recognise the positive impact this has on children’s engagement and development. The training is intended to be fun, inclusive and motivating, leaving staff feeling valued, empowered and excited to be active participants in children’s play
