About This Event

From 10 August, the Mountsorrel Memorial Centre in Leicester is hosting PLAY IN A WEEK, a week-long workshop series designed for young performers. The event brings together local talent with professionals from MMC Venue and BrightLights Theatre School to create an immersive learning experience. Participants will engage in ensemble work, explore movement techniques, study script analysis, and gain hands-on experience with puppetry. By the end of the week, they will have come together to prepare a play for a showcase, harnessing the power and storytelling potential of live theatre under expert guidance. This opportunity allows young performers to refine their skills while contributing to a compelling final performance.

The workshops focus on ensemble work, movement, script reading, monologues, puppetry and script analysis. Participants work together to learn and perform a play, ending the week with a performance on stage at the MMC for an invited audience.

The first week runs from Monday 10 August to Friday 14 August for those aged 12 to 17, performing The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. The second week runs from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August for those aged 7 to 12, performing The BFG. Sessions take place from 10.00am to 3.30pm.

Tickets are £125.00.
