The Medieval spire of St Mary Magdalene is more than 70m high, and can be seen from miles around. The tower dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries, and houses the ringing room, the clock room and the bell chamber. Climb 198 steps to the top of the tower, and hear the fascinating history of St Mary's tower, before enjoying unparalleled views of Newark and the surrounding areas.

Weather permitting, tours will be cancelled if the weather is bad
Children must be 7 years old or over and accompanied by an adult
Number per tour restricted to 10
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the tour starts. We meet at the west end of church (near the main big doors).
There is no public parking attached to the Church. There are several public car parks within walking distance, and some limited on street parking within a 5-10 minute walk.
Upon your arrival, you will be asked to sign to agree with the following before ascending the stairs to the tower. Please take the opportunity to read this through in advance to ensure you are comfortable with the tower tour. There will be no refunds on the day, should you decide against signing the form.

THIS DOCUMENT IS IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND IT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT.
1. This form is important and should be read carefully and your attention is particularly drawn to all sections.
2. You must sign and return this form to St Mary Magdalene Church Newark (“the Organisers”) at registration prior to participating in a tower tour (“the Activity”).
3. I HAVE HAD IT EXPLAINED TO ME AND UNDERSTAND THAT:
“The Activity” may be physically and mentally challenging and potentially
dangerous. You are strongly advised to wear robust footwear with good grip. The tower staircase comprises 198 steps and the treads are not consistent in height or tread length. In part, space in the staircase is very confined. The Activity may be unsuitable for persons with heart or respiratory conditions. The Activity may expose you to surface hazards and varying weather conditions including (but not only) sudden strong winds. Evacuation of sick or injured persons may be difficult and prolonged. There is a risk of serious injury and/or death associated with my participation in “the Activity” although adherence to strict safety standards and health & safety assessments minimises these risks, they cannot be completely eliminated.
4. AGREEMENT:
4.1 I have read and fully understand all the terms of this disclaimer. I confirm that I am not
relying on any statements or representations by any person or entity as an inducement to
my fully and voluntarily engaging in “the Activity” and assuming the risks and
obligations stated above in signing this document.
4.2 I acknowledge that the nature of my participation in “the Activity” is potentially hazardous and that if I am unwilling to accept the risks associated with my participation, I should not take part.
4.3 I give permission to “the Organisers” to use my photograph and/or any other record of my participation in “the Activity” for any legitimate purpose.
4.4 I understand that any and all likenesses of me captured during “the Activity” by “the
Organiser”, shall become the sole property of “the Organiser”.
4.5 If any court or competent authority finds that any provision of this document (or part of any provision) is invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision or part-provision shall, to the extent required, be deemed to be deleted, and the validity and enforceability of the other
provisions of this agreement shall not be affected.
5. I CONFIRM THAT:
5.1 I am 18 years of age or older. I am fully aware of the risks to myself, my dependents (under the age of 18) and others associated with participation in “the Activity”. The risks include damage to or loss of personal property, personal injury and in extreme cases, death.
5.2 I will comply with all instructions given to me by “the Organiser’s” office staff, employees and volunteers.
