Join us for the first workshop in our community banner-making project, featuring a special artist talk with local banner maker Peter Carney.

The first session will begin with an artist talk from local banner maker Peter Carney, who will introduce us to his practice and share examples of his work. Peter will display a selection of his banners, giving the group an opportunity to explore his work, hear about his creative process, and learn more about the history and practice of banner making.

Alongside the artist talk, there will be some hands-on making activities, giving everyone the chance to experiment with some of the techniques Peter uses and contribute to the creation of a co-created banner.

We’ll then move into a collaborative co-design session, where we’ll work together as a group to begin designing two community banners around the theme:

“What does it mean to live well?”

This will be an opportunity to share ideas, thoughts and experiences, and collectively explore what we want the banners to communicate and how we want them to look. The ideas and designs developed in this session will help shape the banners we create together throughout the rest of the project.
