Start the new year painting!!!

Come join me at my studio to paint a contemporary landscape in oils. The session will run from 6.30-8.30pm and the studio will be open from 6pm.

Everyone knows David Hockney. My grandmother's cousin Derek Stafford taught him at Bradford Art college back in the 50's and was influential in his move to the Royal College of Art to further his career as an artist. He has always pushed the boundaries of what he could paint. I love Nichols Canyon (pictured above left), it shows the route through the hills to his home in California like you were driving through the landscape with him, patterns and shapes form on either side and are depicted like you are watching the journey from above.

Shara Hughes is a contemporary landscape painter who has been hugely influenced by Hockney. She uses dizzying brushwork, vibrant colors, and shifting perspectives to make paintings that depict kaleidoscopic visions of flora and fauna in the process of constant evolution.

I like the idea of putting their work together, the master and the student and ask you which painting would you choose to paint? Or a mix of both??

Exciting ha, all these sessions are relaxed and fun, so come to my studio and have a play with colour and pattern and recreate your very own unique landscape...

All materials are provided, so you don't need to go to the art shop and spend a fortune.

Wine, tea, coffee, water, biscuits will be provided.

Richard Meaghan is a contemporary painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally. He has won prizes for his work and his paintings are in many public and private collections.

Richard is also classically trained in the techniques and processes of the Old Masters.

Richard runs S'cube Art Club from his studio. This is a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening membership that are class based teaching sessions in old master, modern and contemporary techniques as well as project based Thursdays where we learn to paint as an artist, understanding competitions and exhibiting together and as individuals.
