Obscure Film + Fringe Flicks bring Żuławski’s cult nightmare to 81 Renshaw for Halloween weekend as part of Scalarama Liverpool.

Obscure Film and Fringe Flicks are joining forces for a Halloween-weekend screening of Andrzej Żuławski’s cult nightmare Possession (1981), at 81 Renshaw as part of Scalarama Liverpool 2026.

What begins as the violent collapse of Mark and Anna’s marriage spirals into paranoia, obsession, body horror and something a lot harder to explain. Feverish, unsettling and frequently extraordinary, Possession is a film built to be experienced on the big screen.

More than just the film

We’re making a suitably strange night of it too. For anyone feeling particularly brave, there’ll be an unhinged scene-recreation contest with fabulous prizes to be won.

Obscure Film is also creating an alternative Possession poster, screenprinted at Liverpool Community Print Station and available to buy on the night.

And there are still a few things we’re keeping quiet for now.
