JOHNNY MORRISSEY

Venue: Former Alex Young Suite, Main Stand Liverpool L4 4EL

Friday, 30 October 2026 • 7:30 PM – 11.00pm

While once again saluting that most famous royal blue hero of all time – our

immortal 60-goal scoring legend William Ralph Dean – the Everton FC Heritage Society will reflect on the importance of local stars in any successful team.

Most Premier League sides don’t even have a single one in their line-ups these

days, and even top-class British stars are at a premium. Clearly, our famous

manager Harry Catterick grasped the importance of Scouse Power.

He regularly featured over half a team of Merseysiders during our memorable

1969/70 Championship year.

Johnny Morrissey missed just one of the 42 league games that year alongside

the likes Brian Labone, Colin Harvey, Joe Royle, Tommy Wright and Alan

Whittle.

SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO A ROYAL BLUE ‘POCKET HERCULES’

Our Dixie Dean evening will include a special filmed tribute to Morrissey, delivered by his former teammate Colin Harvey.

Other special guests will reflect on how special it is to have a dressing room

packed full of top-class Mersey characters. Derek Temple will help us revel in

the Sixties, Ronny Goodlass the Seventies and Peter Reid the 1980s.

Award winner Morrissey joined the Blues from arch-rivals Liverpool in time to

play a key role in our 1963 title season. He was the man who guaranteed

Everton’s place in the 1968 FA Cup Final, with a dramatic semi-final penalty

winner against Leeds.

Johnny was regarded as our ‘Pocket Hercules,' a tough and no-nonsense

winger who demanded the respect of those tasked to mark him.

SUPPORTERS MATTER TO THE EVERTON HERITAGE SOCIETY.

Our Dixie Dean gathering always stirs royal blue spirits, bringing fans and ex-

stars together to demonstrate how very special it is to be a True Blue. The

sensible admission price for our Evertonian gathering, just £20 (plus a small Eventbrite handling fee), puts fans at the top of the Everton Heritage Society’s list of priorities.

Doors open at the Goodison Road side entrance facing the famous Ball, Harvey and Kendall statue opposite St Luke’s, from 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start (all seated).

Please do not park in that area, as there will be free parking facing the Stanley Park End stand, entrance off Goodison Road.

Adults only please (over 18).

Last orders 10.30pm, with an 11pm finish.

THE TROPHY

There are 35 names on the ‘Dean Memorial’ trophy. They fittingly include the

likes of strikers Dave Hickson, Alex Young, Joe Royle, Bob Latchford, Duncan

Ferguson and Graeme Sharp. No one will ever match Dean’s 60-goal record,

not even a certain Manchester City striker who maybe still fancies his chances.

COME ON YOU BLUES!

[All funds will support the ongoing research work of the well-known ‘Everton FC Heritage Society’, the organisation that, for years, has been behind the unique St Luke’s matchday memorabilia experience, and now has its match day presence in the rear of The Bluehouse building, directly opposite the Hill Dickinson Stadium].
