About This Event

Come craft your own sea shanty and sing along with the Liverpool Shanty Choir Write Your Own Sea Shanty! Come along to our musical workshop where you will write, sing and record your very own sea shanty. At our event, members of the Liverpool Shanty Choir will lend their voices to your words to co-create a brand-new shanty that you can sing, record and share with family and friends. The workshop is part of the Being Human Festival and will provide a space for people facing a stormy world in terms of housing, hope and security to re-imagine a safer future and to bring it to life together in song. Being willing to sing loud (rather than in tune) and bringing some sailor-like raucousness are the only criteria for joining in. We’ll see you there. This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 5-14 November 2026.
