Wyrd Wyrale 2027 will take place at Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre on 21 August 2027. This festival will showcase a day of music, folklore, performance, and other discoveries, with ticket prices set at £25.08.
Wyrd Wyrale returns to Bidston Hill: a day of music, folklore, performance, strange encounters and things waiting to be discovered.
The wyrd returns to the hill.
Following the incredible response to our first Wyrd Wyrale, we are delighted to announce our return to Bidston Observatory in 2027.
And next year, we’re going further.
More music. More folklore. More performance. More strange encounters. More things to discover throughout the Observatory, its domes, grounds and surrounding landscape.
To celebrate the launch, the first 100 EARLY WYRD tickets will be available at the same price as 2026. Once they are gone, the next ticket release will increase in price.
FIRST ANNOUNCEMENTS
We are incredibly excited to welcome Liminal Project to Wyrd Wyrale for the first time.
And following their extraordinary opening of the inaugural festival, Common Folk will return in 2027, building upon what they began on the hill and creating something new for our next gathering.
Many more artists, performers and happenings will be announced over the coming months.
ABOUT WYRD WYRALE
The Wirral has always been a place in between.
Between rivers and sea. Between England and elsewhere. Fought over, passed through, settled and unsettled. A peninsula blasted with salt air and stories — some remembered, many forgotten.
Wyrd Wyrale is a one-day cultural festival rooted in Wirral’s liminal identity, celebrating the wyrd, the overlooked and the half-told histories of this strange corner of England.
Taking place at historic Bidston Observatory, high on Bidston Hill between the Rivers Mersey and Dee, Wyrd Wyrale brings together live music, performance, folklore, storytelling, film, talks, art, food, traders and unexpected encounters.
There isn't simply one stage or one way through the festival.
Performances emerge throughout the building and grounds. Music drifts from rooms. Films flicker in hidden spaces. Stories are exchanged. Strange objects may be discovered. Audiences are invited to wander, explore, listen and linger.
Some things will be announced.
Others may simply have to be found.
BIDSTON OBSERVATORY
Wyrd Wyrale takes place within and around Bidston Observatory, home to Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre (BOARC) — a self-organised, not-for-profit space dedicated to experimentation, communality and creative practice.
For one day, this extraordinary building and the surrounding hill become a gathering place for Wirral's wyrd culture, its in-between nature and the stories that still cling to the land.
ACCESSIBILITY
Bidston Observatory is a historic building with multiple staircases and no lift, meaning some areas may be difficult to access. Anyone with access requirements is encouraged to contact us in advance so we can discuss how best to support your visit.
ACCOMMODATION
A limited amount of overnight accommodation is available at Bidston Observatory, including single, double and dormitory rooms, with prices starting from approximately £35 per night.
