4-Day Trouser Making Workshop

Join us for an exciting four-day workshop dedicated to trouser making, where you will have the opportunity to create your own pair of trousers using a pre-made pattern.

On day 1, immerse yourself in the world of sewing as you familiarise yourself with a variety of sewing machines, including both flatbed and overlock machines. This hands-on session will focus

on essential techniques, including sewing straight lines and mastering the threading and operation of each machine. You'll gain confidence in your skills as you experiment with different stitches and settings.

From day 2, we will concentrate on the practical assembly of your trousers. We will guide you through essential techniques, including how to sew a fly front. You will also learn how to finish the waistband and hem, ensuring your trousers have a refined, polished look.

Your instructors, Louisa and Gintare, are experienced stitching teachers at the Fashion Technology Academy in Islington, which specialises in technical skills training for garment manufacturing, including stitching, production, and pattern cutting.

What You’ll Learn:

Day 1: Foundations of Industrial Sewing

Understanding the anatomy of industrial sewing machines.

Safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of common issues.

Threading, bobbin winding, and mastering stitch tension on a flatbed.

Practising speed control and precision for professional-quality results.

Practising straight lines, curves, and corners for precision sewing.

How to do a lay plan to reduce fabric waste

Cutting the trousers

Days 2-4: Constructing the trousers

Adding finishing details such as seams, fly front and fastening

Stitching the waistband and adding the darts

Hemming the trousers

Skill Level: Intermediate (basic sewing skills required).

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the start of the workshop to receive a refund. Unfortunately, cancellations made within 48 hours will not be eligible for a refund.

Around 2 metres of woven fabric (preferably, lightweight calico)
