About Billy Elliot the Musical

Billy Elliot the Musical at the London venue on the Strand tells the story of Billy’s journey from the boxing ring to the ballet class in a northern town during the miners’ strike of 1984/5. As he discovers a passion for dance, the show follows how his courage affects his family and community.

Seen by almost 12 million people across five continents and honoured with more than 80 awards worldwide, this musical returns to London ten years after it last played in its original home. It features iconic music by Elton John and was created by the award-winning team behind the film.

The production is billed as a landmark British musical that has travelled widely and returned home after a long gap. It remains a strong choice for anyone looking for a well-known story with a clear central theme and a major theatrical pedigree.
