THREE HOURS OF BREATH

Before writing, there is breath. Before movement, there is perception. Before expression, there is the body.

For three hours, Taiwanese interdisciplinary artist Hu Chia invites participants into a space of listening: to breath, gravity, silence, sensation and the presence of another body. Drawing from his practices of Body Writing and Listening Body, alongside the nearly two-century lineage of Taiwanese Monkey–Crane Martial Arts, Butoh, partner practice and improvisation, the workshop explores the body not as an instrument to be trained, but as a place of memory, perception and discovery.

There is no choreography to learn and no particular way the body is expected to move. Instead, movement is allowed to emerge through attention. Breath becomes movement. Movement becomes writing. The body becomes a living archive.

Three Hours of Breath is an invitation to slow down, listen differently and encounter the body before language: where silence, gravity, breath and presence meet.

Open to dancers, performers, actors, artists, somatic practitioners and anyone curious about embodied perception. No previous experience is required.
