Cala grew up together in Inverness, Scotland, and released their debut album From the River in 2023. The album captures the rush and vibrancy of Scottish traditional music from a fresh perspective, alongside more spontaneous, meditative reflections on the genre. Following these first steps, Cala are now looking to their wider influences.

They released their self-titled second album in 2026, fusing traditional music with contemporary influences to create a sound that’s hard to pin down but effortlessly unique and charming.

This album showed the band’s eagerness to experiment and stay original, with groove-focused arrangements and exploration of new sounds.
