Cutting Edge: Regent's Canal will occur on 12 October 2026 at Maida Vale Library, serving as the final talk in a series about local community and history.
Our last in the series of local community and history talks at Maida Vale Library with Lester Hillman
The Regent's Canal which stretches 8 miles passes the Library doorstep.
The first spadeful for its construction may have been dug, today, in 1812 very near the Library. The two centuries since have witnessed crime, hoaxes, fraud, thieving, fights, explosions, comedy, dramas and tragedies.
Lester Hillman has been writing, lecturing and leading walks about the colourful canal history. More than half a century ago he worked on award winning towpath access in Regent's Park.
Note: Minimum donation is £1.00. Please consider donating, this helps us curate future cultural and history events in our libraries.
