The Documentary and The Subject

In November of 2025, Andrew Conway and Alison Taffs journeyed to Herefordshire and joined Tom Oliver at his cidery in Ocle Pychard with one thought in mind – to somehow capture a snapshot of a world that few of us experience and perhaps also rarely consider. Producing quality high juice cider on a small scale is enormously hard work and Tom’s dedication, humour, imagination and determination shine through in this brief glimpse of a fascinating and endlessly captivating world.

Tom Oliver is one of the most respected and admired of a growing group of talented, passionate artisans spread across the country, keeping the wonderful tradition of apple and pear orchards and drinks alive, and they receive very little in return except perhaps the certainty that they are creating a quality product that, in the words of Tom, “deserves to be drunk by everybody.”

This documentary is dedicated to all of them.
