From misleading headlines and suspicious messages to misinformation shared on social media, it can be difficult to know what – and who – to trust online. This friendly session will introduce simple techniques you can use to pause, check and make a more informed judgement.

Join us at Chelsea Library for a free, practical and interactive workshop designed to help you navigate online information with greater confidence.

What will you learn?

During the workshop, you’ll explore practical ways to:

No specialist knowledge is needed. Everyone is welcome, whatever your level of experience or confidence online.

About the workshop

The workshop is delivered by Shout Out UK, an award-winning social enterprise specialising in political and media literacy education.

The workshop also forms part of an independent research project exploring how media literacy education can help people identify and respond to misinformation, involving researchers from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of Glasgow and Middlesex University.

As part of the session, participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire before and after the workshop. The workshop itself will last approximately one hour, with additional time allowed for the questionnaires.
