NB: Not at the previous Shirkers Rest venue but the event WILL include a screening of this 1h40m dark comedy rated 15 for "strong language, sex references, and drug misuse". Featuring classic comedy performers Toni Collette, Alan Arkin and an early film role from Steve "The Office" Carell, this Oscar-winning road movie "tackles themes of family, depression, self-acceptance, and finding meaning in absurd conditions" - trailer here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7LJw-6MQN0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7LJw-6MQN0) It's a fairly large (& accessible) venue but, as with many free festival events, it's *"No ticket required - first come first served"* and includes the chance to *"find out more about the New Cross & Deptford Free Film Festival, meet our volunteers, and find out how to get involved":* [https://freefilmfestivals.org/event/festival-launch-and-free-screening/](https://freefilmfestivals.org/event/festival-launch-and-free-screening/) ...plus there's always the possibility of a "sensible post-film drink" somewhere near like Badger Badger the other side of the railway bridge on Deptford High St.
