About:
Bassist, band leader and co-founder of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary Crosby OBE teams up with Mercury Prize nominee and MOBO award winning saxophonist Denys Baptiste to lead an all-star quartet for this celebration of the life and music of the legendary Sonny Rollins.
Marking the both the passing of Rollins earlier this year, and the 70th anniversary of his iconic Saxophone Colossus album, Gary and Denys will be joined by Andrew McCormack (piano), and Rod Youngs (drums), as the explore his incredible musical legacy.
Discussing the impact that Rollins had on him as a musician, Crosby explains "Sonny Rollins was more than the Saxophone Colossus; he was a colossus of imagination and invention. For me, his greatest lesson was that true artistry comes from having the courage to find your own voice."

Gary Crosby, as most people know, was the son of Bing Crosby and Dixie Lee, a singer and actress. He cut his actor's teeth as a youngster of 12 in Duffy's Tavern(1945). He went on to act in 59 TV productions and movies and as himself in 15 game show and celebrity guest appearances. In his teen years he sang a duet with his dad with two songs that were the first double sided gold record in history; "Sam's Song" and "Play a Simple Melody."
