About This Event

The Young Vic in London will present *Gem of the Ocean*, the first UK staging in 20 years of August Wilson’s play. Directed by Young Vic Artistic Director and CEO Nadia Fall, the production features the Gem of the Ocean Cast. Tickets start at £10.

From Young Vic Artistic Director and CEO Nadia Fall (Entertaining Mr Sloane) comes the first UK staging in 20 years of August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean, a riveting instalment in a decade-by-decade, ten-play chronicle of the African-American experience in the twentieth century. Set in Pittsburgh in 1903, it’s a powerful look at the rich history and spirituality of the African-American people, and a searing exploration of resistance, redemption, and the enduring search for freedom.
