About This Event

An Introductory Welding for Artists workshop is set for 21 November 2026 at London Sculpture Workshop. This three-hour session will teach participants the basics of Mig and Arc welding using scrap metal. Attendees will gain hands-on experience and learn techniques for creating steel objects.

This 3 hour session will allow you to learn the basic skills of Mig and Arc welding, using scrap metal to practice and develop your skills.

During this hands-on workshop you will be introduced to Mig, Spot & Arc Welding – learning more about what they are and when and where to use them.

Tips and tricks for beginners and improvers

Welders terms, types of joints and problem solving

Learn how to join steel together and gain confidence by practicing techniques. You will have lots of practical time to use a Mig welder to build your own steel objects from a variety of interesting shapes.

You will also join sheet steel with a spot welder and try out an arc (stick) welder. You will also use an angle grinder to prepare or finish parts.

It is essential to wear old clothes and strong footwear

Basic materials are included.

Course cost: £75

Course times: 2pm - 5pm (3 hours)

Course date: Saturday 21st November 2026
