A CPD event for arts organisations, teachers and artists in Lewisham wanting to connect and collaborate

A joint Lewisham Education Arts Network /Lewisham Arts Schools Hub CPD event for primary and secondary teachers.

Following the success of last year’s LCEP Arts in Lewisham Schools Conference, we are planning a 2026 edition for arts organisations, teachers, and freelancers to gather for sharing, networking, and planning this autumn. The event will be held at the Albany, Deptford on Wednesday 7th October 2026 from 1.30pm-5.30pm. Tickets @£15 per teacher to cover venue costs.

The 7th October Conference will include a key note presentation from Anthony Doudle, Head of Lewisham Learning on ‘Enrichment: challenge & opportunities In the new curriculum and Ofsted expectations’, with a welcome from Cllr Fergus Navaratnam-Blair, new Council Champion for Arts & Culture.

This event is for Lewisham based teachers, arts organisations and Lewisham focused arts freelancers working in arts education.

Organistations taking part include: The Albany, IRIE! dance theatre, Lewisham Youth Theatre, London Writers Centre, Creekside Discovery Centre with Deptford Ragged School Archive, Montage Theatre Arts, Blackheath Halls, Resonance Poetry, Royal Museums Greenwich, freelance participatory arts professionals and more!

What is the LCEP?

As part of the Lewisham’s Cultural Strategy, Lewisham Education Arts Network (LEAN) committed to

‘ develop a wider forum to bring together schools, youth and children’s services, and cultural organisations to collectively understand and address the cultural needs of children and young people and increase opportunities for culture and creativity in their lives’(Lewisham Cultural Strategy – July 2023)

From April 2024, LEAN has brought together over 30 Arts and organisations and schools in a Local Cultural Education Partnership. We have worked together to establish shared aims and an action plan through a Theory of Change. Central to this is improving communication between schools and arts organisations and maximizing opportunities to share resources and funding streams

Lewisham Arts Schools Hub (LASH)

This is a termly network meeting for Lewisham arts teachers both secondary and primary, facilitated by Deptford Green School.

LASH aims to set up a hub of creative minds whereby the following can take place: opportunities to collaborate; sharing of practice, professional development ; showcase sharing: partnership development

LEAN's Cultural Connectors Network

This is an online information sharing network which aims to have at least one representative in all Lewisham Schools. LEAN provides regular news of free and affordable cultural offers in the borough and organises events at different cultural venues to showcase their programmes. Sign up here
