About this event

This is a casual beginner-friendly bokken practice group focused on controlled drills, movement, and light sparring.

The session is not a formal martial arts class and is aimed at keeping things simple, safe, and approachable. Equipment is currently limited, so sessions will remain small and structured.

What we’ll do

short rotation-based rounds so everyone gets time sparring

movement and distance control

basic handling and guard positions

structured attack and defend drills

light supervised sparring

Rules

light contact only

no head strikes

stop immediately on contact

no unsafe or excessive force

organiser may stop any sparring at any time

This is a casual hobby meetup, not a formal class or competitive event. Spaces are intentionally limited due to equipment and supervision constraints.

This session is intentionally light and controlled. If you’re looking for full-speed or competitive sparring, this may not be the right fit. By attending, you agree to participate responsibly and within your own limits.

Bookings close a few hours before the session to allow time for location details to be shared.

Sessions are run when there is sufficient confirmed attendance. If a session needs to be cancelled due to low numbers, attendees will be notified promptly and refunded where applicable.
