About This Event

The exhibition, ‘Lost at Play: 500 Years of Fun and Games’, will explore 500 years of fun and games at Sutton House, featuring a display of toys and games discovered beneath the floorboards. The event will take place on July 31, 2026, at Sutton House and Breaker's Yard in London. Admission is required.

‘Lost at Play’ explores 500 years of fun and games at Sutton House. Join us for a display of toys and games which were discovered beneath the floorboards of the house in the 1990s. These items tell the story of the people who have lived, worked and gone to school at Sutton House.

Whether lost at play or purposefully hidden, these items tell the story of play across five centuries. Some of these toys are familiar, including a domino, playing card and chess piece, while others, like the gaming tokens carved out of animal bone, add intrigue to the history of play.
