Celebrate Black History Month with A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry! Join us 19 Nov, 7pm at VQ Bloomsbury.

What happens when a family’s dreams are bigger than the world allows them to be?

Set in 1950s Chicago, A Raisin in the Sun follows the Younger family as they navigate life in a cramped apartment, racial discrimination and the hope of a brighter future.

When the family receives a life-changing insurance payout following the death of the family patriarch, each member has a different vision for how the money should be used. Walter Lee dreams of financial independence, Mama longs for a home of her own, and Beneatha is determined to pursue her ambitions and discover her identity.

But with competing dreams, generational differences and difficult decisions, can the family find a way forward together?

Written by Lorraine Hansberry, the first Black woman to have a play produced on Broadway, this groundbreaking work explores the realities of the Black American experience, challenging racial inequality while celebrating resilience, dignity and the power of dreams. ✊🏾✨

As we mark Black History Month, this is an opportunity to reflect on the history, struggles and aspirations of Black communities, and to consider how the play’s themes continue to resonate today.

📍 Our next meet-up will be in person at VQ Bloomsbury on Thursday 19th November at 7pm.
