Join us for our Merrell Hiking Club x Sweaty Betty It Starts Outside Day - our biggest UK event ever!

Just 30 minutes from Liverpool Street (20 minutes from Tottenham Hale), we're taking over the incredible Almost Wild Campsite on the banks of the River Lee in Broxbourne - a private, nature-immersed, zero-electricity site nestled between rivers and forest - for a full day in nature.

Together with our co-hosts Danielle Wilson and Jourdan Harland - two MHC Trailblazers who have made it their mission to get more women into the outdoors - and led by our incredible guide Carla Khouri, we'll take you through a day designed to learn something new, spark new friendships, build confidence and remind you of the simple power of getting outside.

You’ll also be one of the FIRST to explore the brand new Merrell x Sweaty Betty collab shoe! There will be a limited run for test shoes, we sadly won’t be able to accommodate everyone testing a pair - but there will be a gifting suite and lots of other fun things!

Schedule:

10am: Meet at Broxbourne station (direct line from Liverpool street or Tottenham Hale) to get merch, test shoes (subject to availability) and set off on a beginner-friendly hike along the Lee River led by Carla

12:30pm: Arrive at Almost Wild Campsite. As part of a very special collaboration, guests will be treated to a sit-down seasonal, interactive, plant-powered lunch by Seeds of Wild - chef-led and female-founded, rooted in sustainability, community and ancestral nourishment. Think: locally sourced, gorgeous vegetarian sharing plates!

3pm: Afternoon workshops and talks will be held across the stunning campsite. Choose your own adventure!

5pm: Event will finish and it’s a 10 minute walk back to Broxbourne station together.

This is your chance to escape the city, get back to nature and spend the day with a welcoming community of women ✨

Whether you come solo or with a friend - everyone is welcome. The event is female-led but we welcome respectful participants of all genders.

Comfortable walking shoes (or try Merrell test shoes on arrival!)

Weather-appropriate clothing and layers

Water bottle (you'll receive an MHC one on arrival!) - there is a water fountain on site

Sunscreen

Any personal medication you may need during the day

Lunch & dietary information

Lunch will be a vegetarian, plant-based meal prepared by Seeds of Wild.

If you have dietary requirements or allergies, you can let us know in the sign up form. Please note that the kitchen handles several common plant-based allergens, including sesame, all nuts (especially peanuts), soy, gluten and mustard. While every effort is made to prevent cross-contact, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

If you have severe allergies, require a diet beyond the vegetarian menu, or cross-contact is a concern for you, we recommend bringing your own lunch.

Your ticket includes: an MHC merch pack (water bottle, scrunchie wristband & buff), Merrell test shoe experience (subject to availability), guided hike and plant identification with Carla, special Seeds of Wild lunch and afternoon workshops. Travel to and from the event is your own.
