Join us for an evening with Amy Jeffs as she explores the forgotten, wilder stories of the medieval world – myths of monsters and miracles, of outcasts and unlikely heroes, of storm-lashed coasts and enchanted forests – brought to life alongside her striking linocut illustrations.

Speaker Bio:

Dr Amy Jeffs has a PhD in Art History from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Amy has researched medieval pilgrim souvenirs at the British Museum, and worked among the British Library’s Medieval manuscripts. She is a Senior Research Associate at Girton College at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. Amy’s previous books are Storyland: A New Mythology of Britain, a Sunday Times bestseller and shortlisted for Waterstones Book of the Year, Wild: Tales from Early Medieval Britain, Saints: Medieval Legends of Heroes, Humans and Magic and Old Songs: Stories of Love and Death from Traditional Ballads. She has also written a children’s edition of Storyland.

Amy speaks at literary festivals and events around the UK and beyond, has spoken at venues including Westminster Abbey, Butser Ancient Farm and Southwark Cathedral, and has guest curated the Cheltenham Literary Festival. She has been interviewed on national television and radio, including BBC1’s Countryfile, and regularly guests on history podcasts.
