About This Event

***💠 The Dark Side of the Spotlight is when you fall under the illusion!*** 👋 **Hey everyone!** This evening is a rather special one, as we’re going to watch **Satoshi Kon’s** 1997 classic **Perfect Blue** alongside filmmaker **Matt Halsall’s** new short film **Idols**, which has recently enjoyed success at the **[Fantasia Festival](https://fantasiafestival.com/en/film/idols)**[.](https://fantasiafestival.com/en/film/idols) Not that I'm trying to sound up myself, but Matt kindly **reached out to me personally** from **Korea** to tell me about the screening, and I’m very happy that we can support his film and make this an official get-together. Needless to say, it’s not every day we get an opportunity quite like this! I think what makes this double bill particularly exciting is that **Idols** was directly inspired by **Perfect Blue**, so we’ll get to experience **Satoshi Kon’s** hugely influential psychological anime alongside **Matt Halsall’s** brand-new live-action film that takes some of that inspiration in its own direction. So, for film lovers, that makes this a rather fascinating pairing. **You can also check out the synopses and trailers below if you wish, or simply come along and be surprised.** **The Meetup:** If you're into mind-bending Japanese anime spiced with some live-action Korean juice, then join us at **Victory House Bar** at **7:30 pm**. Then after some drinks, we’ll head over to the **Prince Charles Cinema** for the **8:45 pm** screening, where you’ll find me in **seat A6** if you’d like to sit nearby. **Afterwards**, we’ll reconvene at around **10:25 pm** to share our thoughts, reviews and **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse) scores**. You’ll find the **full schedule breakdown, ticket information, map and addresses below**, so you won't get lost. Seems pop idol obsession can go a little too far these days, even to the point of madness. What do you think? **See you guys there!** **Jonny** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-
