Capturing London's African Diaspora History on Foot
City of London - History Walking Tour
led by Angela Morgan
Join Rapport Festival in collaboration with Angela Morgan for our journey through the vibrant tapestry of London's African diaspora heritage: 'Heritage Roots, Routes & Shoots'.
Immerse yourself in the rich history and cultural heritage of the City of London.
The City of London is best known as the financial centre of London. Its wealth, over many centuries, has been built on trade and associated businesses that have created rich and powerful men. But this walking tour will focus on the Black men and women whose presence is often discounted.
We lived, worked, and existed in the City from Roman times to the present day.
On this tour, you'll hear about the historic Black presence relating to:
A royal trumpeter
The wealthy road sweeper
The tailor who made the finest silk shirts
Terror on the high seas written off as an insurance loss
A man who had a dream
And other stories
Tour Guide
Angela Morgan (Blue Badge Tourist Guide) transcends the typical London experience. Her passion lies in delving beyond iconic landmarks, uncovering the city's diverse narratives and hidden gems.
Angela specialises in Black British history, offering tours like 'George, Nana & Mary' and 'Stepping into the Limelight'. These illuminate the often-unseen contributions and experiences of Black communities, sparking meaningful conversations and challenging perspectives.
Angela's warmth, engaging storytelling, and infectious love for London set her apart. She's not just a guide, she's an invitation to discover the heart and soul of the city through its lesser-known stories.
