The truth may never be known about the incidents that took place in Rendlesham Forest in December 1980. They have since begun to drift into the mists of folklore, and the mythological fog of war, and have been described as 'Britain's Roswell'.

But something truly unusual did happen. A large number of United States Air Force personnel from the nearby twin bases at RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters witnessed phenomena that none of them have ever been able to explain. The official memo spoke of ‘unexplained lights’ – UFOs being too emotive a term – but, as later emerged, there was much more to it than that.

10:00 meet at the coach pick-up point near Stratford Station, London

12:30 pub lunch at Ego at The Deben Seal, Woodbridge, Suffolk

14:00 coach transfer to Rendlesham Forest for guided walk

16:00 coach transfer to The Deben Seal

18:00 coach transfer to London

20:30 estimated arrival time at Stratford Station

The walk

The guided tour takes place on a public walking trail (https://www.forestryengland.uk/rendlesham-forest) managed by Forestry England.

Some of the walk is through narrow paths in woodland during winter and so appropriate footwear is essential.

The entire walk is c. 4.75km (c. 6,750 steps) and takes c. 90 minutes including stops. You will need to be physically able to complete the circular route. There are no hills on the route.

The route is not, unfortunately, suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

Participants must ensure their own safety and comfort on the walks and in the pub.
