An electrifying celebration of contemporary Scottish folk, this special showcase at Kings Place brings together two of the scene’s most compelling forces: Hannah Rarity and Heron Valley.

Hannah Rarity has firmly established herself as one of Scotland’s leading folk voices. Since winning the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2018, she has captivated audiences with her hauntingly beautiful voice and deeply expressive performances. Her critically acclaimed albums Neath the Gloaming Star and To Have You Near both earned nominations at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, cementing her reputation as a standout artist of her generation. Blending traditional song with contemporary influences and original material, Hannah’s performances are rich with emotion, elegance, and storytelling.

Joining her are Heron Valley, one of the most exciting and dynamic bands in modern Scottish folk. Since their formation in 2014, they have built a reputation for explosive live shows driven by soaring bagpipes, fiery fiddle playing, and a relentless rhythm section. Their high-energy performances have lit up major stages, from Celtic Connections to the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, alongside extensive touring across North America, where they have built a strong and growing following with standout appearances at leading Celtic and folk festivals throughout the USA and Canada.
