Enjoy five premium wines, learn how to taste them properly, and meet other single Londoners in their 30s and 40s without the awkwardness of traditional dating events.

Join us at Diogenes The Dog in Elephant & Castle for a relaxed but structured evening hosted by the First Glass Wine Events team.

This isn’t a case of being handed a glass and left to work the room. Your hosts will guide you through the evening with wine tuition, tasting activities and conversation prompts, so there’s always something to get involved in and plenty to talk about.

You’ll learn a lot along the way, but you don’t need to know anything about wine beforehand. The evening is designed to be enjoyable whether you’re already into wine or simply fancy trying something different.

How the evening worksWe’ll start at 7pm, with a prompt 7.20pm start, and begin with a sparkling wine while you settle in and chat using our conversation starters.

You’ll then taste four more wines throughout the evening, with your hosts explaining what you’re drinking and leading a series of fun, interactive activities. You’ll be seated in groups of around five or six people, with the groups rotated during the night so you get the chance to speak to everyone.

It’s sociable, guided and easy-going, but it’s not speed dating. Everyone attending just happens to be single, so there’s no pressure to make a match or perform for the room.

Most guests come on their own, and our hosts will look after you throughout the evening, helping conversations get started and making sure nobody is left standing awkwardly by themselves.

At the end of the night, our Palate Pairer matches you with the person whose wine preferences are most similar to yours. Consider it an excuse to continue the conversation over a second glass.
