Free screening of UK & French independent short films exploring youth, community & global majority voices + filmmaker Q&A! Mon Sept 7. Solidarity across cities, Paris - London Short film screening & discussion FREE EVENT Monday 7th September - 7:30pm Join us for a free film screening at Eastway Baths, Hackney Wick this September! Bringing together contemporary perspectives on urban space and community in London and Paris, two cities with growing interconnected cultural landscapes, the programme features five short films introduced by their filmmakers. It will be followed by a conversation exploring how different capitals shape young people's experiences of public space as a site of belonging and connection, moderated by Din, from ENW, and Sylvia. This free evening brings together international artists and local audiences to reflect on diasporic identities and belonging, and how young people create spaces of community beyond traditional institutions. Organisers European New Wave (ENW) is a multidisciplinary creative collective based in the UK, building cultural connections across Europe and the Global Majority through art, design, education, and community. Sylvia Keck-Soler is a French-born curator based in London, specialising in participatory practices. She is passionate about using art as a way to connect people and build community. The venue brings together a café, event spaces, studios and community facilities to support a diverse ecosystem of artists, practitioners, local residents and small businesses. Getting Here: 80 EASTWAY, LONDON E9 5JH The nearest train stations are Hackney Wick overground station (0.5 miles), approximately 12 min walk. Routes from Hackney Wick station to the venue consist of level access enabled by dropped kerbs; however tactile paving/detectable warning surfaces are limited. Please use the doorbell on the grey doors to the right of our main entrance to call a member of staff, who will bring the lift down and open the wheelchair accessible door. The height of the bar is 103 cm. The menu boards are visible from this point. We have a gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible toilet. Once in the space, the Lounge and the Civic Classroom offer direct barrier-free access, while the Events Hall and the Garden are accessible via another platform lift.
