About This Event

A free one-day workshop, Summer School: Class, Culture & Discontents, will be held at Chestnut Grove Academy in London on Thursday 23 July 2026, with doors opening at 10.30am. The event convenes a diverse array of speakers and contributors to examine contemporary debates surrounding class, social mobility and cultural identity. Sessions will address the portrayal of working-class communities within the arts, the role of education in shaping class consciousness, and the effects of economic change on local cultures. The programme is tailored for adults with an interest in sociology, politics or cultural studies, and no prior knowledge is necessary. Admission is free of charge, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early as places are limited.
