About This Event

Hip hop, spoken word and jazz meet high vibration. SUPERORGANIC returns to share new music and tell a chapter from Newham’s book. Event Synopsis: SUPERORGANIC is a Culture Lab where hip hop, spoken word and jazz meet high vibration. Every place has a story. SUPERORGANIC returns to tell a chapter from Newham’s book, through the sound, the pioneers, and the people making culture here right now. For its fourth anniversary, SUPERORGANIC joins the EFG London Jazz Festival with a place-based show delving into the rich history of an East London musical heartland. It is also a homecoming for Fusion, who honed his craft here years ago at Stratford Circus, now The Source, introducing a young Ms Dynamite, Donae’o, Ed Sheeran, Kano and Wretch 32 on stage before the world knew their names. Fusion is the visionary and guiding force behind SUPERORGANIC. Producer of homegrown hip hop anthems Groundbreaker and Big N Bashy, MTV Base presenter, EFG London Jazz Festival host and part of the PRS Foundation POWER UP family, he has firm roots in Newham, teaching, producing shows and hosting in the borough. On Thursday, 19th November, we celebrate Newham’s rich heritage. We pay tribute to the late Linda Lewis, the soulful and vocally gifted Custom House native who played the very first Glastonbury in 1970 and became the first Black British female singer-songwriter to chart in the UK. An unsung hero of British music, her story and music will play a key part in an inspiring evening. We also honour the grime generation who shaped the modern sound of British music. Through our work in the community, we spotlight emerging musicians and poets, who share their own stories of being raised and made in Newham. Expect a live band, MCs, poets and drummers in a room built for participation. Featured Artists SUPERORGANIC’s curator Fusion is an artist and producer in his own right, and steps on stage with new music and a phenomenal line up. ● Apex Zero: A multidisciplinary artist and emcee whose cinematic storytelling bridges London’s underground hip hop scene with global movements. ● Ay Hearts: A gifted educator and poet who combines spoken word alchemy with hip hop sensibilities to light up live shows with an undeniable righteous fire. ● Griz-O: An MC and artist with an uncompromising approach, Griz-O channels bold experimentation through grime-infused hip hop that cuts straight to the core. ● Dray Styles: A UK hip hop artist and producer, member of hip hop trio FRSHRZ, whose soulful rap moves between grime and eclectic sounds on his 2026 album Weirdiful. ● Nate The Lyricist: A spoken word poet and activist with two decades on community stages, from pirate radio to Revolutionary Minds and the live collective FLO Vortex. ● Michelle X: An author, songwriter and award-winning spoken-word artist behind The Poet Behind The Mic series, and a truly unique Newham voice. ● Spider J: A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer whose 25 years span ska to hip hop, from Madness and Bad Manners to Stevie Wonder and Lee “Scratch” Perry. ● Dembis Thioung: A Senegalese master drum-maker and percussionist who carries the ancestral power of Dundun, Djembe and Sabar, bridging tradition and innovation. The SUPERORGANIC band: Rory Scott, Harry Bennett, Carmen Llena, Spider J, Tim Bull and Dembis Thioung. More artists to be announced.
