Chef Akbar will teach you some of his favourite Tajik dishes followed by a sit down meal. ABOUT THE CUISINE Tajik cuisine is a celebration of family, hospitality, and centuries-old culinary traditions shaped by the Silk Road. Influenced by Uzbek and Central Asian flavours, Tajik dishes are hearty, aromatic, and full of soul. From slow-cooked lamb broths to golden pastries and freshly baked flatbreads, every meal reflects the warmth and generosity of Tajik culture - where food is best shared with family and friends. ABOUT THE CHEF A message from chef Akbar: “Hi, my name is Akbar. I moved to the UK from the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan, with my wife and four children. I am Tajik and I love showcasing our delicious food and culture. Samarkand is a significant centre of Persian culture and a hub for trade along the Silk Road. I have had a passion for cooking from a young age, as I learnt from my parents and grandparents. Having had many years of experience catering for family, and friends and hosting culinary events I am now confident and enjoy cooking Tajik cuisine. I used to be a mathematics teacher as well as a chef, so I like both numbers and flavours. I have a Masters degree in mathematics from Samarkand State University, so I have an eye for detail, precision, flavour harmony and creativity. I also enjoy experimenting with different ingredients and techniques to create exquisite flavours, delighting your palates and affording memorable culinary experiences. Whether solving Mathematical equations or developing recipes, I am dedicated to honing my culinary skills and inspiring you with traditional recipes from my past home in Uzbekistan”.
